During this session we will discuss what the concept AR entails, which different models of AR exist, which criteria can be applied in AR and how AR can be implemented in admission procedures of higher education institutions. When applied, AR will substantially shorten the admission procedure of foreign students at higher education institutions. The concept of AR arose around 2012 and we will follow its development by discussing the Bucharest Communiqué (2012), the Baltic-Benelux Agreement and the Council Recommendation on AR (2018) and other useful resources on AR for a deeper understanding of the concept. The European Council is aiming for Automatic Recognition (AR) in higher education in the European Education Area by 2025.
